Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante Chronograph (Silver/Grey Edition)

The Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante split-second mono-pusher chronograph with a unique, dial-side mechanism. This incredible watch is 1 of 77 made in the world and combines the sporty elegance of the Czapek Antarctique line with an amazing complication.

A Rattrapante is a split second hand (in this case a chronograph) in which the user can time two separate events at the same time. The tracking hands are stacked closely one on top of the other so the second hand is essentially hidden. When activated by the pusher, both hands move simultaneously until the pusher is activated a second time at which time the top hand is stopped but the second hand continues until the pusher is pushed for a third time.

Both hands then snap back to the 12 o'clock position with a single push of the reset pusher.

A split second chrongraph is incredibly complex and considered to be a grande complication. This wonderful movement, the Czapek proprietary calibre SHX6 is not hidden away behind a case, or even limited to being seen by taking the watch off. Instead, the open dial allows the owner to view the movement and mechanism in action while on the wrist. Additionally, Czapek chose to utilize a horizontal clutch for the chronograph to allow the user to fully enjoy the mechanism in action.

Despite the magnificent complication, the watch is still a comfortable 42.5mm diameter and 15.3mm in height and has 120M of water resistance. It comes on a wonderfully integrated bracelet with quick release mechanism, as well as a rubber strap.

This is a true grail timepiece. Manufactured in 2022, this watch is in new, unworn condition and still contained in the plastic wrapping. The plastic was only removed for photographs. The watch comes with its own winder.
